Automatic transcription and subtitling

Overview

Hamaika Telebista and Kanaldude use Orai technology to subtitle their videos; it has been incorporated into their systems. Antxeta Irratia has also incorporated it into its CMS website. 

Challenge

This transcription technology has to be adapted to the characteristics of these customers; specifically to their Basque dialects. The Basque dialects of the Continental Basque Country, in particular, are the ones with the greatest need in this respect, the ones used in Kanaldude and Antxeta Irratia.

Result

With Orai transcription technology, Hamaika Telebista, Kanaldude and Antxeta Irratia can subtitle their videos and audios. It is even more interesting in the case of Antxeta Irratia because the exclusively audio medium can be turned into text and thus made accessible to the hearing-impaired. When the reporters upload an Antxeta Irratia audio to its website, it is automatically transcribed, so when the listener clicks on play, he or she can see the transcription word-for-word synchronised with the audio.
